The Ontario Electrical
Safety Code requires that all electrical products and equipment
in Ontario must bear the mark of a recognized certification agency
as defined by the Standards Council of Canada. Electrical products
that do not bear a recognized marking cannot be displayed, sold,
used, or disposed of in Ontario.
Electrical products are tested by certification agencies to ensure
that the quality of materials and workmanship meet the requirements
defined to keep the residents of Ontario safe from shock and fire
hazard. There are currently 10 certification agencies that are recognized
in Ontario.
